Kristi Noem and Vivek Ramaswamy come out on top of CPAC vice-presidential straw poll

 February 26, 2024

A straw poll taken at CPAC on Saturday to determine whom conservatives want to see as Donald Trump's running mate ended in a tie between South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Both candidates came out on top of the poll with 15%, while former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard came in third with 9%.

Gabbard is a name that virtually no one has discussed as Trump's running mate, so it's shocking that she managed to bring in such a substantial amount of support.

A former Democrat, Gabbard beat out Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as well as Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL).

That's downright embarrassing for Stefanik, who has been openly courting Trump's favor for the past few months.

The Gabbard situation aside, both Noem and Ramaswamy make interesting candidates to be Trump's right-hand man or woman. Trump isn't showing his cards yet, but this straw poll could go a long way toward influencing his decision.
