Kevin McCarthy spotted at Trump's Nevada victory speech

Former President Donald Trump recently marched to victory in the Nevada GOP primary, and some of his supporters came to show solidarity.

One of those was former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who was spotted at Trump's victory speech after he secured a decisive victory in Nevada. Video of his appearance went viral.

It's no surprise that McCarthy was spotted at Trump's victory speech, as he's been a long time supporter of the 45th president.

In December, the Associated Press reported that McCarthy offered his endorsement of Trump and held nothing back in his support.

"I will support the president. I will support President Trump," McCarthy said.

The AP noted:

“Look, I worked with President Trump on a lot of policies. I, we, worked together to win the majority,” he told CBS’ Robert Costa in the interview, his first to air on TV since announcing he will leave Congress. “But we also have a relationship where we’re very honest with one another.”

McCarthy also expressed his support for Trump after he was elected as House Speaker, making sure to shout-out Trump in his victory speech.

"I do want to especially thank President Trump," McCarthy told reporters at the time, according to a previous Fox News report. "I don't think anybody should doubt his influence. He was with me from the beginning … he was all in."

In a report from the Guardian, McCarthy also expressed his willingness to serve in Trump's cabinet, should he receive the call to do so.

"In the right position. Look, if I’m the best person for the job – yes," McCarthy said in response to a question from Bob Costa regarding his willingness to serve in a Trump cabinet.

Notably, former Trump adviser Steve Bannon recently suggested that McCarthy is angling to serve as Trump's chief of staff should he win the election later this year.

Social media users reacted negatively to the idea of McCarthy as a chief of staff.

"Who else would be a NO VOTE on Kevin McCarthy taking over as the Chief of Staff to Trump’s second term? Horrible idea if being considered. That job has a lot of power, and I can only imagine it’s going to be used against Trump when possible," conservative commentator Ryan Fournier wrote on X.
