Joe Biden's appointment of Julie Su to become Labor Department secretary made it out of committee on an 11-10 party line vote on Tuesday, clearing the way for a vote by the full Senate.

Su has been serving as acting secretary since March while her permanent appointment was considered.

Biden's pick was previously the secretary of labor in California, where she implemented Assembly Bill 5, which reclassified many freelance and gig positions as full-time work that required a W-2.

An estimated 1 million freelancers lost their jobs as a result of her disastrous policies, and it looks like she may get the chance to replicate this disaster on a national level.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) supports Su's confirmation, calling her "pro-worker."

If at least one or two Democrats don't oppose her confirmation, we could be in for a bumpy ride in regard to labor policies in the U.S.
