Florida man accused of familial homicide confesses to police

 November 27, 2023

Joshua Robert Brinkley, 41, who was suspected of killing his brother after officers conducting a welfare check discovered the man's body, confessed to the violent killing while in police custody.

When officers contacted Josh, he was getting into his vehicle outside his home, but when he saw the officers, he put his hands up and said, "I just killed my brother in my house."

Officers then entered the home, where they discovered Brinkley's brother, whose full identity has been kept from the public, with visible gunshot wounds.

The welfare check was initiated after Josh Brinkley made concerning statements to acquaintances who then contacted authorities.

However, Brinkley's confession didn't mean that he was a cooperative prisoner, as he ended up kicking a detective when he was in custody at the Largo Police Department.

Brinkley has since been charged with murder in the first degree and battery on a law enforcement officer but should pose no further threat as he will likely be facing a lengthy prison sentence for his horrific crime.
