The brother of illegal immigrant Jose Ibarra, the suspect in the killing of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, was arrested for possessing a fake green card, which he used to obtain work at a dining hall on the campus where her body was found.

Diego Ibarra, 29, may have had some connection to the killing, police now suspect, because there was no other connection between his brother and the victim. He is now in state custody.

Diego was arrested three times before the most recent arrest. He was processed for immediate removal but then released to New York on an asylum claim due to the Biden administration's lax policies on the border.

The Bolton Dining Hall at the University of Georgia, which hired Bolton in early February, said that he was fired and never paid by the university after he failed to submit further documentation.

Police consider Riley's murder a crime of opportunity and said the two did not know each other before she was killed. Jose Ibarra lived five minutes away from the location where her body was found.

The brothers are both from Venezuela.
