A Brooklyn youth mentor was caught in the crossfire of a carjacking last month and lost his life tragically when the carjacking victims mistook his vehicle for the criminal's and shot him three times.

After a group of men in a black Honda stole a Mercedes-Benz vehicle on Jan. 24, 28-year-old Shaquary Bryant pulled up in his black Honda.

Thinking it was the carjacker, the man who had just been victimized shot into it and hit Bryant three times.

Bryant was driving to his overnight job as a youth mentor for teens in a residential shelter who were in trouble with the law.

His father expressed hurt and frustration that Bryant had been shot and killed "for nothing."

Bryant had a five-year-old daughter. No arrests have been made in the shooting.
