Wyoming bans gender-affirming care for minors

 March 24, 2024

Wyoming joined 23 other states prohibiting gender-affirming care for minors after Governor Mark Gordon signed Senate File 99 on Friday.

The legislation created penalties for pharmacists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals who provide gender-affirming care to those under the age of 18.

Those who are caught violating the new law will have their licenses revoked and in some states could be banned outright from practicing in Wyoming.

Governor Gordon issued a statement saying, "I signed SF99 because I support the protections this bill includes for children, however it is my belief that the government is straying into the personal affairs of families. Our legislature needs to sort out its intentions with regard to parental rights. While it inserts governmental prerogative in some places, it affirms parental rights in others.:

The debate over gender-affirming care for minors is a new one and while there are questions that need sorting out, there is no question that there needs to be strict laws put in place.

Around the nation, leftists have pushed gender-affirming care on those under 18 and that has led to countless children making life-altering choices. Wyoming is doing the right thing even if their may be some kinks that need to be worked out of Senate File 99.
