White House won't say whether Biden supports confiscation of AR-15s

March 31, 2023

President Joe Biden has been very clear on his desire to have a ban on semi-automatic weapons like the AR-15, but on Wednesday, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre may have let it slip that the president would actually confiscate the weapons if he could.

Jean-Pierre was asked by a reporter, “Does the president support, not just banning the sale and manufacture of semiautomatic weapons, but, further than that, confiscation?”

Instead of saying "yes" or "no," she launched into a diatribe about the issue:

Let me just be very clear what we’re talking about, AR-15s, [this] ‘assault weapons’ ban, they are weapons of war and they should not be on the streets across the country, in our communities, they should not be in schools, they should not be in grocery stores, they should not be in churches, that’s what the President believes.

She stressed that Biden had done everything he could via executive order on the matter and was now calling on Congress to pass a ban.

Here's when she let the real agenda slip. Biden would “be happy to sign that legislation that says, okay, we’re going to remove ‘assault weapons.”

She then quickly corrected herself to say, “We’re going to have an ‘assault weapons’ ban.” But we know what she really meant.
