Jean-Pierre says Biden 'intends' to seek reelection in 2024

 February 13, 2023

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that President Joe Biden still intends on running for reelection in 2024.

"What I can say is repeat what the president has said many times is that he intends to run. And I leave it there," Jean-Pierre said.

"Jean-Pierre noted that she was limited by the HATCH Act in what she could say," reported the Washington Examiner. "The policy restricts public officials from engaging in certain types of political activity."

"Biden is expected to reveal his reelection plans within the coming weeks. Last week, Biden delivered his State of the Union address in front of a GOP-led House and traveled to both Florida and Wisconsin, in moves that were seen as a potential prelude to his reelection campaign. First lady Jill Biden has shifted in favor of him vying for reelection," CNN reported.

"Watch me. That's all I can say," Biden said in response to a question about whether he was too old to run for a second term.

Biden also said he would "be completely, thoroughly honest with the American people if I thought there was any health problem — anything — that would keep me from being able to do the job."

"Polls have indicated that many Democrats would prefer Biden tap out of the 2024 contest. Former President Donald Trump has already announced his 2024 campaign, and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is speculated to commence her campaign this coming Wednesday," reports the Washington Examiner.
