White House refuses to give requested information to House Oversight Committee

The White House is refusing to disclose requested information to the House Oversight Committee concerning who covered up information about classified documents found on President Joe Biden's properties and in his office at the Penn Biden Center in November and December.

Neither the White House nor the National Archives (NARA) disclosed to the public that classified documents had been found for over two months until it was leaked to CBS News.

The White House sent a letter to the committee claiming that it did not ask NARA to withhold the information, but would not disclose who, if anyone, did.

A letter from the White House to the committee suggested that it seek “information from the relevant agencies in the first instance and request information from the White House thereafter only to the extent necessary.”

Since the Justice Department is in the middle of its own investigation of Biden and the documents, that agency is unlikely to give out any information to Congress.

The letter did not deny Comer's contention that Biden could release the documents publicly and be more transparent with the American people. He has not done so, however.
