White House changes story about Joe Biden's knowledge of son's business dealings

The White House is apparently attempting to quietly change the narrative that President Joe Biden never knew about son Hunter's business dealings to one that the two were never in business together.

When campaigning in 2019-20, Joe Biden said repeatedly, “I have never discussed, with my son or my brother or with anyone else, anything having to do with their businesses. Period.”

Then on Friday, a White House spokesman said, "As we have said many times before, the President was not in business with his son. As we have also said many times before, the Justice Department makes decisions in its criminal investigations independently, & in this case, the White House has not been involved."

That's not what had been said "many times before," but Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted to link the two by saying, "Nothing has changed," when asked about the new statement that Biden was not in business with Hunter.

In fact, what has changed is that Republicans in Congress have gotten hold of a WhatsApp message from 2017 in which Hunter Biden is threatening a foreign business interest that his father, who had just left the vice presidency, would deal with them if they didn't follow through on a payment they had promised.

Unless Joe Biden is ready to say that Hunter was lying in the message and he wasn't actually "sitting next to" him, this smoking gun disproves everything Biden has said about not being involved in or even knowing about Hunter's business dealings. Not only was he involved, but he used his power to extort money from foreign entities, at least for Hunter and who knows for how many other family members including himself?
