White House boots HuffPost, Reuters, foreign press out of Cabinet meeting

 February 27, 2025

If you're not going to be fair about your reporting and instead prefer to publish biased takes, then Donald Trump doesn't want you in his Cabinet meetings.

As a result, HuffPost, Reuters, and a representative of the foreign press were all kicked out of the traditional pool of White House reporters on Wednesday.

The move made good on a promise from press secretary Karoline Leavitt to be selective about which outlets get to cover Trump in restricted spaces.

Before Donald Trump's first Cabinet meeting, the three reporters were told they weren't allowed to join the rest of the pool near press aides.

Instead, the three were banished with the Associated Press' reporter and photographer, who had been indefinitely banned from the pool for using the term "Gulf of Mexico" instead of the body of water's official name, "Gulf of America."

S.V. Date, a White House reporter for HuffPost, gave a comment saying that he shouldn't have been asked to leave the room because he's never reported anything incorrect in ten years in the White House.

"I will say this, I've been pooling now for 10 years, since the Obama administration," Date told reporters. "The number of times that the Obama White House, Trump White House 1, Biden White House and Trump White House 2 in the times that I've pooled so far have asked for a mistake to be corrected in one of my pool reports? Zero. None. Never."

Do you think Trump was right for kicking these people out of his meeting?
