Trump’s critic Michael Avenatti in talks to testify in favor of former president

 April 22, 2024

Former lawyer Michael Avenatti, who once bragged that he was Donald Trump's fiercest critic, has shocked America by revealing that he is in talks with defense attorneys to testify on the former president's behalf in the New York hush-money trial.

In a call to the New York Post, Avenatti revealed, "The defense has contacted me. I’d be more than happy to testify, I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of year."

Avenatti is currently serving a 19-year sentence for extortion, tax evasion, fraud, and embezzlement.

What makes this such a game changer for Trump is the fact that Avenatti is the attorney who represented Stormy Daniels, the adult film star who allegedly received hush-money payments from Trump.

Avenatti likely knows something that could completely flip the case against Trump and is in talks with Trump's team to testify, likely in exchange for lenience should Trump win the 2024 presidential election.

The disgraced former lawyer hates Trump and has attacked him for years, but it is likely that he has spotted an opportunity to parlay his knowledge into a pardon from a possible future president.
