Trump to sign executive order revoking security clearance of 51 former officials

 January 20, 2025

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order revoking the security clearances of 51 ex-intelligence officials who signed a letter claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop was a product of Russian disinformation.

The Hunter Biden laptop story was revealed in October of 2020, just before that year's presidential election, and it ignited panic in Joe Biden's campaign that it could cost the Democrats the election.

In response to the story, a letter from the 51 intelligence officials claimed that the laptop story was a Russian disinformation campaign designed to damage the Biden campaign.

In reality, the story was real, and the laptop yielded mountains of evidence implicating the Biden family in an influence-peddling scheme but not before Joe Biden had won the 2020 presidential election.

Now with Trump back in office, he is looking to secure accountability from the intelligence officials who willingly lied and used their status to interfere in a presidential election.

Trump's executive order will revoke those officials' security clearance but will likely be just the first step in a campaign designed to crack down on rogue officials who are willing to lie to the American people for political gain.
