Former President Donald Trump's name will be on Colorado's 2024 presidential primary ballot in the absence of a Supreme Court ruling to the contrary by Jan. 25, Secretary of State Jena Griswold said in a press release on Thursday.

“With the appeal filed, Donald Trump will be included as a candidate on Colorado’s 2024 Presidential Primary Ballot when certification occurs on January 5, 2024, unless the US Supreme Court declines to take the case or otherwise affirms the Colorado Supreme Court ruling,” Griswold's office said.

The ruling is currently stayed because the Colorado Republican Party filed a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court appealing the state Supreme Court's ruling to bar Trump from the ballot.

Griswold made it clear she agreed with the state Supreme Court's ruling and urged the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in quickly.

“The Colorado Supreme Court got it right. This decision is now being appealed,” Griswold said. “I urge the US Supreme Court to act quickly given the upcoming presidential primary election.”

The U.S. Supreme Court may still issue its own stay before or after it comes back into session on Jan. 5.
