In a new campaign video, former President Donald Trump warned Republicans not to cut Social Security and Medicare as part of a debt ceiling fight in which they will engage over the next few months.

“Under no circumstances should Republicans vote to cut a single penny from Medicare or Social Security to help pay for Joe Biden’s reckless spending spree, which is more reckless than anybody’s ever done or had in the history of our country,” Trump said at the start of the video.

Democrats have “wasted trillions on left-wing lunacy” and “thrown open our treasury" to pay for rampant illegal immigration, Trump added.

Seniors have been "absolutely destroyed in the last two years," he argued, and should not shoulder any of the burden of spending cuts that could hurt them even more.

Instead, Trump argued for cutting “hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars going to corrupt foreign countries,” stopping “the mass releases of illegal aliens that are depleting our social safety net and destroying our country,” ending radical gender programs in the military and cutting reckless funding on “climate change extremism.”

Sounds like a good place to start.
