Trump uses new nickname for DeSantis, DeSanctus, but says he isn't thinking about him much

Former President Donald Trump seems to have found a new nickname for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), rumored to be his main rival for the GOP presidential nomination, but says he's not thinking about his former ally much.

"GREAT POLL NUMBERS. LEADING BIDEN, DESANCTUS, AND ALL OTHERS BY A LOT," Trump wrote on Wednesday on his Truth Social account. "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!"

After New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman pointed out the new Trump nickname for DeSantis and chronicled other nicknames Trump has used, including "Meatball Ron" and "Shutdown Ron," Trump denied that he was very concerned about his potential rival.

"All of the Fake News is reporting that I spend large amounts of my time coming up with a good ‘nickname’ for Ron DeSanctimonious, who is obviously going to give the presidential ‘thing’ a shot," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "They are all 100% wrong, I don’t even think about it — A very unimportant subject to me!!!"

In most recent polls, DeSantis is either leading Trump or is second to him as a primary candidate.

He is expected to announce his candidacy in May or June following the conclusion of the spring session of the state legislature.
