Trump trolls media and critics with self-comparison to Elvis Presley

 February 5, 2024

Former President Donald Trump has said in the past that people tell him he looks similar to legendary rocker Elvis Presley.

According to the Daily Mail, the former president recently asked tens of millions of his followers if he does, in fact, resemble "The King."

Trump shared a photoshopped image that spliced half of his face with the other half being Presley's. The image was shared with over 30 million of his followers and drew mixed reactions.

"For so many years people have been saying that Elvis and I look alike. What do you think?" Trump wrote in one of his posts.

Not surprisingly, Trump's critics used the moment to torch the former president with insults, while many of his supporters recognized that Trump was simply trolling his haters and generating massive engagement, which ultimately leads to even more exposure.

"I have said Trump reminds me of a blonde Elvis, for sure!" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Elvis Trump What I love most about this post is how much it's triggering The Left and Never-Trumpers."

Trump made a similar self-comparison to Elvis in 2018 while in the late singer's hometown of Tupelo, Mississippi.

The Mail noted:

A few years before that, at an event in Presley's hometown Tupelo, Trump for the first time brought up his likeness to Presley, who died in 1977 at age 42 after years of abusing his body with drugs and alcohol.

"I shouldn't say this, you'll say I'm very conceited, cause I'm not,' he said at the time, to tepid laughter. But other than the blonde hair, when I was growing up, they said I look like Elvis," Trump said at the time.

Others had even more fun with the former president's comparison.

"Elvis Presley has been living in plain sight since his alleged death in 1977. Little did anyone know other than his inner inner circle that he had changed his name to Donald Trump and became president for the first time in 2016. LONG LIVE THE KING," one X user wrote.

Undoubtedly, Trump's trolling of the mainstream media was nothing short of a roaring success.
