Former President Donald Trump responded to the recent firing of Chris Licht from CNN during his remarks at the North Carolina GOP convention on Saturday.

"It worked out well," Trump said of the CNN town hall in which he appeared and which garnered 3.31 million viewers for the struggling network. "But it didn't work out well for him [Licht]."

"Mr. Licht, sorry about that! I'd like to apologize to Mr. Licht!" Trump said.

The network received major backlash from its regular viewers over the town hall, during which Trump talked over his interviewer and made disparaging remarks about his accuser in a sexual abuse and defamation case, E. Jean Carroll.

Despite the backlash, the network has scheduled a town hall with another 2024 GOP presidential candidate, former Vice President Mike Pence.

Pence should be more popular with CNN viewers, since he has been vocal in speaking out against Trump for his efforts to get him and others to overturn electoral vote counts because he thought the election was unfair.
