Trump still has massive lead in North Carolina primary

Some Republicans have hoped that former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley would continue to surge in the polls leading up to initial GOP primaries and give former President Donald Trump a run for his money.

That does not look likely to happen at this point, as the latest polling shows Trump retaining almost a 30-point lead over Haley in her home state.

The Emerson College survey has Trump at 54% in the poll, with Haley a distant 29%.

It doesn't look like anyone is going to be able to catch up to Trump at this point, unless something happens that causes the public to turn against him.

All the other candidates are at single digits in the state race, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has seven percent.

Trump has also been warned about making Haley his vice president by some conservatives who fear she will be like Mike Pence and represent the establishment view.
