Trump working to achieve ceasefire between Israel and Hamas ahead of inauguration
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) visited Israel this week to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and confirmed that President-elect Donald Trump is seeking a Gaza hostage-ceasefire deal before he is inaugurated in January.
Speaking to Axios, Graham stated, "Trump is more determined than ever to release the hostages and supports a ceasefire that includes a hostage deal. He wants to see it happening now."
Trump has made it clear that he wants to end all the wars that have started in the past four years since he left the White House. He is prioritizing ending the war in Ukraine and the violence in the Middle East that has carried on for over a year.
Graham continued, saying, "I want people in Israel and in the region to know that Trump is focused on the hostages issue. He wants the killing to stop and the fighting to end. I hope President Trump and the Biden administration will work together during the transition period to release the hostages and get a ceasefire."
The senator also visited with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, serving as Trump's emissary to restart talks on normalizing relations with Israel and creating a lasting peace treaty between Israel and moderate Arab nations.
During his first term, Trump was on the verge of creating a historic peace but that fell apart with Biden's election win in 2020. Now Trump is back, and he is determined to succeed in the Middle East and create peace, not war.
