President-elect Donald Trump's transition team is making plans to exit the World Health Organization (WHO) on "day one" of his new presidential term, as Breitbart reports.

Trump had begun the process to exit WHO during his previous term, but he was not able to complete it. Then when President Joe Biden took office in 2021, he immediately reversed Trump's efforts and resumed relations with the group.

The U.S. is WHO's largest donor, providing about 16% of its $6.83 billion budget.

Conservatives have been pushing the House Foreign Affairs Committee to push forward two bills to defund and then withdraw from WHO.

The president-elect's team said it plans to initiate a withdrawal on Jan. 20 -- inauguration day.

Trump has criticized WHO for siding with China during the COVID-19 pandemic.
