Trump name drops Tim Scott and Kristi Noem when asked about VP choice

 February 5, 2024

Former President Donald Trump appeared on Fox News' Sunday Morning Futures with host Maria Bartiromo, and when she asked him about his VP options, he dropped multiple names.

When Bartiromo inquired as to when he would make an official decision, Trump responded by saying, "Not for a while. We have so many great people in the Republican Party, but not for a while."

But Trump has made a habit of teasing his supporters by releasing nuggets of information, and he didn't stop with his "not for a while," comment. As such, his decision to name drop two candidates in particular has MAGA supporters buzzing.

Trump first discussed Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) saying, "I called him and I said, ‘You are [a] much better candidate … for me, than you were for yourself.' When I watched Tim, he was fine, he was good, but he was very low-key. I watched him in the last week, defending me, and sticking up for me and fighting for me."

He also talked about South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, saying that she had “been incredible fighting" for him and the America First agenda.

Trump's decision to mention these two specifically suggests that they are high on his short list of candidates to be his right-hand man or woman.
