Former President Donald Trump mocked former New Jersey Gov. and current presidential candidate Chris Christie for his weight at a New Hampshire rally on Tuesday, joking that Christie is "eating right now" and telling audience members not to "call him a fat pig."

Trump first commented that Vivek Ramaswamy, another GOP candidate, was catching up to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis when someone in the crowd brought up Christie, who was tied with DeSantis in a recent state poll.

“Christie, he’s eating right now. He can’t be bothered,” Trump said. “Sir, please do not call him a fat pig. That’s very disrespectful. Don’t call him that,” Trump joked to an audience member.

“See, I’m trying to be nice. Don’t call him a fat pig. You can’t, can’t do that. So now, because you’re not allowed to do that, and therefore, we’re not going to do it, okay? We want to be very civil,” Trump added.

DeSantis and Christie each had nine points in the recent poll, while Trump had 43% support.

The poll also found that 62% of the state's Republicans would vote for Trump even if he were convicted of a felony, and 57% would vote for him even if he were “serving time in prison.”
