Poll: Trump Leads 2024 Primary By Double Digits

January 13, 2023

There's no denying that former President Donald Trump had a rough couple of weeks after the midterms. His endorsements didn't do as well as planned, he lost a public feud with conservative star Ron DeSantis, and he was caught belittling his own wife over midterm results.

That rough patch appears to be over, however. Trump is once again leading the Republican field in terms of a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary.

According to Morning Consult, 46% of potential Republican voters support Trump in his bid for the Republican nomination. DeSantis is second, collecting 33% of the tally.

Mike Pence made up 9% and represents the only other candidate with above 3% support.

Senior Morning Consult reporter Eli Yokely spoke of the results, saying that polling took place between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8.

"Across all times series, results among potential Republican primary voters have an unweighted margin of error of plus or minus 1 to 2 percentage points, while results among all voters have an unweighted margin of error of 1 percentage point," he said.
