Trump Leading GOP Primary By Double Digits In Virginia

 September 2, 2023

A recent poll in Virginia revealed a brutal truth to most of the GOP primary field.

Donald Trump is doing just as well there as he is across the rest of America. Trump might be faring even better there, actually.

The survey asked, "If you had to choose, who would you most prefer to be the Republican nominee for president in 2024?"

Donald Trump blew the opposition away, collecting 47% of available support.

The former president holds a commanding lead over second-place Ron DeSantis, who collected just 13% support but was still the only other Republican gathering at least double digits.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin took third place, despite having given no indication as of yet that he is going to be running for president.

In less exciting news for Trump, the same survey found him trailing Joe Biden in a head-to-head matchup.

In that poll, Trump collected 42% support, compared to 51% support for Biden.

The survey also found out that 47% of Virginians would at least consider an independent candidate if the only two choices on the ballot are Trump and Biden.
