Trump hints at possibility of RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel losing job

 February 5, 2024

Republican National Committee (RNC) Ronna McDaniel has been under fire in recent months and many believe her time running the RNC has been shortened.

According to The Hill, former President Donald Trump hinted during a recent Fox News interview that he believes there will be "some changes" at the RNC regarding McDaniel's involvement.

Trump's take on the matter came after Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo asked him about McDaniel's performance running the fundraising arm of the Republican Party.

Bartiromo noted that Democrats have outraised Republicans, prompting Trump to remind her, "I have a lot of money."

The former president seemingly attempted to explain that he isn't concerned with the RNC's positioning at this point in time, hinting that he believes it's separate from what others are looking at as far as donations.

"And the money that they get, people are not looking at the RNC. They want — they want changes. I — you have to understand, I have nothing to do with the RNC. I don’t — I’m separate," Trump said.

While he didn't directly predict that McDaniel's time heading up the RNC is limited, he undoubtedly hinted in that direction when Bartiromo asked him about her performance overall.

"I think she did great when she ran Michigan for me. I think she did OK initially in the RNC," Trump said. "I would say, right now, there will probably be some changes made."

Social media users responded to Trump's take on the matter, with a majority of users agreeing that she's simply not the right person to be in charge of a high-stakes election not only for the White House, but also for Congress.

"Ronna McDaniel needs to be replaced as RNC Chair if Republicans are going to have a chance at getting a Congress that puts America first. The days of McConnell and his RINO ilk need to be over if we’re going to save America. Ronna needs to be fired," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Well, it seems like Trump is keeping everyone on their toes with those hints about changes. Politics can be full of surprises, and speculations about future moves often stir up some uncertainty. Let's see how it unfolds!!!"

There have been several previous efforts to oust McDaniel from her position.

While she's managed to hang onto her job, it looks like that luck could soon come to an end. Only time will tell.
