A new Quinnipiac poll released on Wednesday showed that former President Donald Trump had a 14-point lead over his 2024 Republican primary challengers.

Trump has received a boost the last two weeks as reports that he might be indicted have swirled, a rumor that became reality on Thursday.

Trump had 47% support in the poll, 14% ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who had 33% support even though he has not yet declared his candidacy.

After DeSantis, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, who is an official GOP candidate in 2024, got only four percent in the poll.

A number of other potential candidates only got 1-2% in the poll, including 2016 candidate Ted Cruz and former Vice President Mike Pence.

The other declared candidate in the race, Vivek Ramaswamy, got 1%.
