Trump gives hints on possible pick to lead DOD should he win another term in the White House

 December 24, 2023

Former President Donald Trump has hinted at who he might choose to run the Department of Defense should he win another term as president during an interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show on Friday.

Hewitt asked Trump, "You're going to need a secretary of Defense... Have you got, will you put out a list of people that you will put into the cabinet?"

Trump responded by saying, "We have, it's such an important position. You know, we had Miller at the end who did a very good job."

The former president was referring to Christopher Miller, who worked as acting secretary of defense after Mark Esper left in 2020. Apparently, Miller did a good enough job in such a tumultuous time that it seems he is now at the top of Trump's list.

Hewitt brought up additional names like those of Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, but Trump didn't seem as interested.

Trump's appointments for key positions will be critical should he get a 2nd term in the White House. His first term was directly sabotaged by the people he brought in who would end up either selling him out or not performing as expected.
