Trump fundraising on possibility he could die in prison

Former President Donald Trump is nothing if not inventive -- his latest fundraising tactic is to remind Americans that he could die in prison if he's convicted on charges that he mishandled classified documents and then tried to cover it up.

Right around the same time Trump appeared in a Miami courtroom with aide Walt Nauta for his arraignment on 37 criminal counts, his campaign sent out an email that started off like this:

Friend, Reports state that I could receive a maximum sentence of 400 YEARS IN PRISON despite being a totally and completely innocent man.

He chalked up the charges as President Joe Biden's "persecution" of a political opponent and a "dark cloud over our beloved country before asking, “Please make a contribution to peacefully stand with me and SAVE the greatest country in history – for 1,500% impact.”

The campaign strategy is smart, even if his conviction on many of the charges is probably a long shot at best and may not happen until after the election, the way things are going.

It is a sad day for America that Biden has decided to stoop so low as to go after Trump criminally. Our days as a banana-republic-like country have begun and will probably never end.
