In the wake of the Hamas-led attacks on Israel, a number of Democratic politicians have made questionable, if not downright disgusting comments regarding the situation.
According to Fox News, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) offended many with her bland statement on the unprecedented terrorist attack, enough to trigger Trump-era adviser to the U.S. ambassador to Israel Aryeh Lightstone into responding, calling for her resignation.
"I have been in touch with communities impacted by what’s happening in the region. It is abhorrent. My heart is with all those impacted. We need peace in this region," Whitmer wrote after the attacks occurred, failing to mention Israel, which touched a nerve with many.

Her tweet sparked outrage across social media.
Lightstone was fast to respond to Whitmer's insensitive comment, even reminding her that he had hosted her for dinner.
"I hosted you for Thanksgiving in Israel just a few years ago. I am embarrassed for you and by you & disappointed that I opened my home and my family to you," Lightstone wrote.
Lightstone added, "The job of a leader is to know the difference between right and wrong. The job of a politician is apparently to say nothing, and she demonstrated that she's a politician," he said.
"She watched this happen in real time. And to watch women and children be kidnapped and raped and murdered, and to not be able to say something? She should resign immediately," he continued.
Others across social media torched Whitmer for omitting Israel in her message, which was low, even for a radical Democrat.
"Say their names...Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists. I know this is hard for rich, white liberals like yourself," one X user wrote.

As the death toll continues to rise in Israel, including the number of Americans who have been murdered in the attack, a majority of politicians have issued statements and have been supportive of Israel's right to defend itself.
Though Whitmer later attempted to walk back her post by declaring that she "unequivocally" supports Israel, the damage had likely already been done.
