Trump Demands Judge Be Removed In New York Case

Donald Trump and his team of lawyers are pretty sure that they've found a reason that Donald Trump's criminal trial in New York should not be presided over by Judge Juan Merchan.

Federal Election Commission records show that Juan Merchan donated $35 to liberals in 2020. Fifteen dollars of that went toward Joe Biden's presidential campaign.

Trump and his team initially demanded that Trump's case be heard in a federal court, given his position as a public figure. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg did not agree, however, saying that the hush money being scrutinized was transferred before Trump ever took public office.

Since getting the entire case moved to federal court wasn't likely to happen, Trump's team began focusing on getting a new judge instead of a new location.

Trump's team thinks that the recently unearthed donations is just what they need to force the judge to recuse himself, saying:

This case before this Court is historic and it is important that the People of the State of New York and this nation have confidence that the jurist who presides over it is impartial. Most respectfully, the foregoing facts compel the conclusion that Your Honor is not and thus should recuse.
