Trump confirms Nikki Haley out of VP race, leaving Elise Stefanik and J.D. Vance as popular options

Former President Donald Trump ruled out former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley as a potential running mate during a campaign rally on Friday night in New Hampshire.

Trump stated, "She is OK, but she is not presidential timber. And when I say that, that probably means she is not going to be chosen as the vice president."

He then went on to troll the crowd saying, "When you say certain things, it sort of takes them out of play, am I right? You can’t say, ‘She’s not of the timber to be the vice president’ and then say, ‘Ladies and gentleman, I’m proud to announce …' That’s how it is."

Trump knows the race for the nomination is over, so he is having his fun playing on his supporters' speculation about who he will select as his running mate.

Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) are reportedly at the top of the list with Haley out of contention.

Stefanik has long been a close ally of Trump's, and Vance has Trump to thank for winning his Senate seat. Both figures are reasonably popular but more importantly, they don't bring baggage that would weigh Trump down.
