Trump claims Hurricane Helene is Kamala Harris's Katrina

Former President Donald Trump blasted Vice President Kamala Harris's response to Hurricane Helene, calling it her Katrina in reference to the famously mishandled response to a massive storm that devastated Louisiana years ago.

Hurricane Helene tore through multiple southern states, leveling towns, destroying infrastructure, and killing hundreds, with more missing and unaccounted for.

During Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, the former president slammed Harris saying, "This has been the worst Hurricane Response by a president and vice president since Katrina -- and this is simply unacceptable."

The official death toll has hit 227 so far, but it is expected to rise, as recovery efforts are just beginning to get underway. This makes Hurricane Helene the second deadliest such storm in American history, only behind Hurricane Katrina. which killed nearly 2,000 people roughly twenty years ago.

So far, Georgia and North Carolina seem to have borne the brunt of the storm, which makes this situation particularly relevant to the presidential election as both are thought of as key swing states.

Voters who have dealt with the federal government's terrible response and lack of funding for disaster relief will hopefully remember those things when they go to the polls in a month.
