Trump campaign says hackers stole information, including dossier on JD Vance
Former President Donald Trump's campaign has confirmed that foreign hackers from a hostile nation breached his campaign's cybersecurity and stole documents that were then sent to Politico.
Steven Cheung, communications director for the Trump campaign, issued a statement saying, "These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process."
He further explained that "On Friday, a new report from Microsoft found that Iranian hackers broke into the account of a ‘high ranking official’ on the U.S. presidential campaign in June 2024, which coincides with the close timing of President Trump’s selection of a Vice Presidential nominee."
Iranian hackers have breached Trump's campaign and stolen information to disseminate it to opposition forces which is exactly what Democrats claim happened to Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Of course, the allegations that Trump worked with Russia to damage Clinton's campaign were never proven and in fact turned out to be based entirely on evidence for which the Clinton campaign paid.
While the exact evidence tying this attack to Iran hasn't been presented to the public yet, the tables have turned in Trump's favor. Now he gets to play the "my opponent is being helped by hostile foreign nations" card.
