Trump blames Pelosi for allowing Jan. 6 Capitol riot to get out of control
Former President Donald Trump has been blamed by many for the Jan. 6 Capitol riots, but he, and others, have a vastly different take on why the situation escalated out of control.
According to Breitbart, during a recent interview on NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump laid the blame on then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for letting the situation get out of hand, citing her alleged rejection of allowing some 10,000 National Guard soldiers move in for crowd control and security.
NBC's Kristen Welker interviewed the former president, and he held nothing back regarding his opinion on what might have gone wrong on that particular day.
"Nancy Pelosi was in charge of security and turned down 10,000 soldiers, if she didn’t turn down the soldiers, you wouldn’t have January 6," Trump told Welker.
Trump refused to provide details when Welker asked him if he called military or law enforcement for backup, again blaming Pelosi for dropping the ball on that front.
"I’m not going to tell you anything. Let me put it this way, I behaved so well. I did such a good job. Nancy Pelosi turned down 10,000 soldiers. If she didn’t do that," Trump replied.
Welker pointed out the difference in authority between himself and Pelosi, given that he was the commander in chief at the time.
"Listen to me Kristen. Listen to me. I understand that the police testified against her, Capitol Police, great people. They testified against her and they burned all of the evidence, Okay? They burned all of the evidence they destroyed all of the evidence about Nancy Pelosi," Trump said.

Welker continued to pepper him with questions regarding the difference in authority, but Trump reminded her that Pelosi had the authority to make such decisions as speaker, who's in charge of the Capitol.
Trump and Welker continued to go back and forth, and Trump remained steadfast in his opinion that Pelosi was ultimately responsible for the events that took place on Jan. 6.
"Capitol Police said that he wanted it, and Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t accept it. She’s responsible for January 6," Trump said.

Pelosi has repeatedly denied that she turned down such a request. Others believe she's lying about that, among other things. Sadly, Americans may never learn the truth.
