Trump bans AP from key WH access areas for refusing to recognize 'Gulf of America' name change

President Donald Trump has banned the Associated Press from certain areas of the White House after the media organization refused to recognize the name change issued for a key body of water.

The outlet's reluctance to change its style guide from the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, has resulted in a ban on staffers entering both the Oval Office and Air Force One.

Deputy Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich wrote on X, "While their right to irresponsible and dishonest reporting is protected by the First Amendment, it does not ensure their privilege of unfettered access to limited spaces, like the Oval Office and Air Force One. Going forward, that space will now be opened up to the many thousands of reporters who have been barred from covering these intimate areas of the administration."

The "Gulf of America" fight is a handy way for the Trump administration to push legacy media outlets out of prime spots and open the White House to independent and small media outlets.

Outlets like CNN, the Associated Press, and MSNBC have long enjoyed being at the top, and they actively worked to crush independent media in past administrations.

Now with Trump in the White House, independent media is being prioritized which is having a disruptive effect on the monopoly that legacy enterprises have had for decades.
