Former President Donald Trump wrecked things with first-term Vice President Mike Pence by expecting him not to certify legitimate election results, but one-time favorite replacement Kari Lake is turning out to be a "spotlight hound" who may not end up making the cut.
Lake, who is still contesting the 2022 Arizona governor's race even though it turned out to not even be close, has failed to endear herself to Trump's aides, and now the former president is reportedly souring on her as well.
“She’s a shameless, ruthless demagogue who wants power and will do whatever she has to do to get it,” a Trump adviser said about her.
Another advisor said that Trump has not appreciated Lake running around saying she should be vice president.
“Tells you all you need to know that he did not make her his national spokeswoman,” the same adviser added. “She was an obvious choice.”
Trump has reportedly been considering a number of female candidates for vice president including Lake, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, although his team acknowledges that the candidate doesn't necessarily need to be a woman.
