Trump allies appointed to Intelligence Committee

On Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) appointed two Trump allies to the Intelligence Committee, spurring concerns about them having access to classified data and briefings.

Reps. Scott Perry (PA) and Ronny Jackson (TX) will fill the vacancies of members who left their seats before their terms ended: Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin and Chris Stewart of Utah.

Among the concerns: Perry and Jackson don't possess the kind of intelligence backgrounds typical committee members have. Some Democrats consider them "election deniers" who tried to overturn the 2020 election.

Perry's cell phone was seized after Jan. 6, 2021, but he was not charged or even censured for anything that may have been found therein.

Jackson was the White House physician for former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump, and he has spoken out repeatedly about President Joe Biden's frailty and perceived cognitive decline.

Johnson is doing everything he can to get Trump re-elected, but actions like these don't even begin to counterbalance the way Democrats and the deep state are going after Trump to keep him from getting back into the Oval Office.
