Trump administration will not release White House visitor logs during second term
Continuing its policy from his first term, President Donald Trump's new administration said it would not release visitor logs during the second term despite the fact that his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, did release visitor logs on a monthly basis while he was in office.
Releasing visitor logs is not a requirement for presidents; they are protected by the Presidential Records Act until five years after a president leaves office. Former President Barack Obama was the first to release the logs on a regular basis.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers defended the policy, saying, "After four years of the Biden administration’s empty promises, lies, and secrets, President Trump is giving the people and the press a level of access and transparency never seen before.
That's not an explanation for why Trump won't release the logs, but it's not hard to figure out why he wouldn't want to.
The level of scrutiny the mainstream press aims at all of Trump's actions far exceeds its scrutiny of Biden's (or any Democrat's, for that matter).
Why would he open himself up to criticism or give the left more ammunition for politically motivated witch hunts when he doesn't have to?
