Former President Donald Trump said Tuesday night that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was disloyal to him.
Trump accused DeSantis of being an “average Republican” with no “loyalty and class.” He has also recently dubbed the newly re-elected governor "Ron DeSanctimonious."
He claimed that DeSantis's popularity came from anti-lockdown policies and said he "has the advantage of sunshine" so that people would want to move to Florida no matter what.
Trump originally endorsed DeSantis in 2018, but when DeSantis began to eclipse him in popularity in a few polls, he began to perceive DeSantis as a threat.
DeSantis is now widely seen as a contender second only to Trump for the Republican nomination in 2024, despite the fact that he has never said he planned run for president.
