Top BBC news anchor resigns amid scandal

 April 23, 2024

Veteran BBC News anchor Huw Edwards has resigned from the network on what he is calling "medical advice."

Coincidentally, the "medical advice" that he received telling him to resign from the network came just a few months after he was involved in a scandal regarding sexually explicit images of a teenager.

Edwards had been one of the top newsmen at BBC, serving as the network's lead presenter on key events such as the death and funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

However, he was suspended in July of 2023 when allegations involving Edwards and images, including of a teenage girl, went public.

Now, Huw Edwards has resigned. We're supposed to believe it's unrelated to the allegations and simply because of medical advice.

"Huw Edwards has today resigned and left the BBC," the network announced. "After 40 years of service, Huw has explained that his decision was made on the basis of medical advice from his doctors."
