Tim Walz's motorcade involved in multiple-vehicle accident: Report

 September 3, 2024

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz finally made the headlines for something other than the string of lies he' has told since he was chosen as Vice President Harris' running mate.

According to the BBC, multiple vehicles in Walz's motorcade were involved in a vehicle accident this week. The outlet reported that Walz escaped injury.

The BBC noted:

The crash happened around 13:00 local time (18:00 GMT) on Monday. The cars involved were at the rear of the motorcade and were carrying members of the press who travel with Mr Walz.

Some of the reporters involved in the accident said they were "violently thrown forward" after being struck from behind. The rear-end strike sent the motorcade vehicle into the vehicle in front of it.

Walz released a quick statement regarding the accident and thanked the U.S. Secret Service for "their quick reaction to help."

"Some of my staff and members of the press that were travelling up with us were involved in a traffic accident on the way here today. We’ve spoken with the staff," he told the crowd at a rally. "I’m relieved to say that with a few minor injuries, everybody’s going to be okay.”

The multiple-vehicle accident occurred in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as the vice president was en route to a political event. It happened on interstate 794.

Walz, the governor of Minnesota, reportedly received calls from both Harris and President Joe Biden following the wreck.

The BBC noted:

One person appeared to have broken an arm and was being treated by medics, according to a pool reporter travelling with Mr Walz.
The affected vehicles pulled over to the side of the road as Mr Walz continued ahead to a scheduled appearance.

It's the second time that Walz's motorcade has been involved in some type of vehicle-related accident.

The BBC noted that motorcades are often driven by campaign staffers who do not have professional driving experience.

Walz's opponent, Sen. J.D. Vance, wished him well, writing, "Hoping everyone's ok."

Thankfully, no critical injuries happened as a result of the crash.
