Texas Rep. Fallon says border being controlled by drug cartels, not US government

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX) said on Friday that the border is now being controlled by Mexican drug cartels, not the U.S. government.

“It is not even a crisis anymore. It is an absolute catastrophe," Fallon said of the border, where record numbers of illegal immigrants are crossing every month.

“Look at what is happening with the illegal narcotics," he said. "The Mexican drug cartels are controlling our southern border, not the federal government. This is asymmetrical warfare.

He pointed to the opioid epidemic to show the negative impact of President Joe Biden's failed border policies.

"We lost 107,000 Americans to opioid overdoses — 80,000 to Fentanyl alone. We lost 293 Americans a day. In World War II, we lost 297 a day. This is asymmetrical warfare waged by the Chinese communists. We have to change course,” he said.
