Writer critical of Taylor Swift feels need to stay anonymous

 April 23, 2024

Taylor Swift has been saying that she is "moved" by the positive press the 31 tracks on her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, have received.

However, there was at least one review out there that swung so far the other way that the internet has taken notice.

One critic posted a review that was "less than glowing" but did not publish their name along with the review.

The magazine this review was hosted in posted a note saying that when this writer "reviewed Taylor's 2019 album Lover, the writer received threats of violence from trolls."

So, this time around, the writer stayed anonymous.

The writer criticized Taylor Swift infantilizing "infantilise the very people who buy into her music and drive her successes upwards in the first place." The review adds that "there is nothing poetic about a billionaire."

Swift's fans take the music she puts out VERY seriously.

So seriously, in fact, that this reviewer was VERY concerned for her safety.

Do you think she was justified?
