Target's bad month continues with a nationwide recall of frozen food

 June 25, 2023

Target has had a terrible month thanks to a scandal involving pride merchandise said to target young children. However, the company can't catch a break as now there is a national recall of frozen food sold at Target and other retailers.

The Food and Drug Administration announced the recall this week, citing concerns of infections from bacteria known as listeria monocytogenes.

The bacteria can cause “serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems," according to the FDA.

However, listeria monocytogenes can also pose a risk to healthy adults as well. The notice stated, "Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea."

Target's fruit products ranging from Oct. 14, 2022, to May 22, 2023 are impacted by the recall.

Americans will want to be cautious when it comes to frozen fruit for a bit and should consult the full list of products recalled to determine exposure.
