Target stock price hits new yearly low as GOP members like J.D. Vance say they won't shop there

Target's stock price has hit a new yearly low amidst controversy over its recently unveiled Pride collection, featuring items designed by a Satanist and transgender bathing suits with a pocket for men to "tuck" their private parts away.

Republican Sen. J.D. Vance (OH) said on social media Thursday, "Target could have decided to stay out of the culture wars, instead it decided to wage war on a large share of its customer base. I no longer shop at Target, and it seems many families are doing the same.”

Target originally displayed its latest Pride collection prominently at the front of stores, but some stores have moved the display to the back in response to the backlash.

It has also removed two items designed by Satanist Abprallen from its website, and presumably from stores.

While a Target spokesperson attempted to correct "misleading" reports that the transgender bathing suits were for young children (they are only for adults, apparently), some of their children's swimsuits carry tags that say, “Thoughtfully Fit on Multiple Body Types and Gender Expressions.”

It's one thing to "target" adults with pride merchandise, although why that's even necessary is a valid question. But targeting children who shouldn't even have to think about their sexual identity yet is just beyond all reason.
