Supreme Court will hear case that could impact Donald Trump's prosecution

 December 4, 2023

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case brought by three Jan. 6 protestors who are seeking to have charges of obstructing an official proceeding dismissed. Former President Donald Trump is facing the same charge, meaning that this case could have massive implications for him.

The federal election interference case being brought against Trump could very well be completely undermined should the Supreme Court choose to dismiss the charges against the three protestors.

More importantly, it will massively delay the progress of the case against Trump, as it would have to go on pause while the Supreme Court conducts a hearing.

The Supreme Court would take several months to both hear arguments and render a judgement.

Trump's election interference case is scheduled to begin in March, and with a possible delay from the Supreme Court, there is a strong chance there won't be time to conduct the trial before the 2024 presidential election.

According to the latest polls, Trump is leading Joe Biden in key states, which means that Democrats must either convict him before the election or kiss any hopes of conviction goodbye forever.
