Supreme Court rules in favor of J6 defendant

 June 29, 2024

The U.S. Supreme Court has made the decision to rule in favor of a January 6 protester who has been seeking to have an obstruction charge against him thrown out.

On June 28, that defendant got his wish.

A 6-3 vote has decided that "Joseph Fischer, who is among hundreds of Jan. 6 defendants -- including former President Donald Trump -- who have been charged with obstructing an official proceeding over the effort to prevent Congress' certification of President Joe Biden’s election victory" could not be prosecuted under the statute cited by the Justice Department.

This is of particular importance because Donald Trump is facing two counts under the same statute, and the high court held that its language is inapplicable to the situation at hand.

Some people feel as if Donald Trump is a great man who was simply leading his followers to do what he believed was right on that fateful day.

Others feel as if he tried to place his own personal goals ahead of Democracy and should be punished for the January 6 Capitol breach.
