Supreme Court prepares to take up TikTok ban case
Once it became clear that Donald Trump was going to be the 47th president of the United States of America, a new battle became the biggest in America:
TikTok's battle for survival .
It's certainly been an interesting saga, with many people seemingly unable to pick a firm stance on the video sharing app that's owned by ByteDance, a Chinese company with ties to the CCP.
Even Trump has gone back and forth on the issue. First, he pushed for a ban while president. Now, as a result of TikTok and the podcast circuit helping him win the election, he seems a little more receptive to keeping the app around.
The U.S. Supreme Court is about to decide whether Trump ever gets the chance to do so.
ByteDance does not appear to be willing to divest from the app, which means that TikTok is scheduled to be banned in America on Jan. 19, one day before Trump takes office.
Trump has asked the Supreme Court to at least extend the deadline until after he gets into office, and now it appears as though the justices may consider doing exactly that.
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear oral arguments regarding the TikTok ban on Jan. 10, with a final decision expected to come merely days before the Jan. 19 deadline.
Do you hope the Supreme Court gives Trump the chance to save TikTok, or should the original timeline be enforced?
